LEGAL MINDS, INC. (800) 792-9129

GRIEVANCE POLICY AND PROCEDURE

Legal Minds, Inc. is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists. Legal Minds, Inc. will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the Continuing Education Program Administrator in consultation with the members of the continuing education committee, the Legal Minds, Inc.

While Legal Minds, Inc. goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the convention staff which require intervention and/or action on the part of the instructors or staff or an officer of Legal Minds, Inc. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.

When a participant, either orally or in written format, files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken.

If a grievance arises about the content of a workshop (level of information, materials) or discordance with the summary of the content made in the offering (undisclosed prerequisites needed or inadequate summary to accurately describe the presentation content), we will provide the participant with the opportunity to take a different workshop or be provided credit for a comparable (units or hours) training/workshop that arises within the following year. The grievance will be documented for record keeping and the person will be provided a code to apply for the credit (if that option is chosen). We will also review a request for a partial or full refund that will be made based on inaccurate advertisement of the level or content of a workshop or training.

If a complaint is made about a presenter, style of presentation, facilities, materials, the individual’s comments will be noted in written form maintaining anonymity and provided to the instructor.

When a grievance is made about the Legal Minds, Inc. CE program, the individual will have an opportunity to speak with the CE Chair and a formal investigation will be undertaken with follow-up for the individual, as needed based on the complaint. The CE chair will collaborate with the advisory board on the complaints to determine the best approach to resolution.
